Our Story

Our Founder, Moira Speirs, outinles the inspiration of “Scottish Whisky, Southern Charm”

"Scottish Whisky, Southern Charm” was born out of two of my favorite things; parties, and the love of single malts.

For those who don’t know me, I’m a people person. I enjoy meeting new people and people enjoy meeting me. When my family moved to Atlanta Ga. way back in May 1997, we quickly found out that Atlanta folks were welcoming, friendly and kind. With three children and a visa which did not allow me to work for money, I involved myself in volunteering. Georgia Shakespeare quickly became one of our favorite places and it didn’t take long before I was auctioning myself off to do Whisky Tastings or Scottish Tea Parties for their fundraisers. Pretty soon I was a feature of many other fundraisers, It was a hot item!

It was a pleasant surprise that everyone I met loved my accent, loved my stories and, was excited to share my love of single malts.

I decided to quit my full-time day job and set up Scottish Whisky, Southern Charm.

My kids are now all grown-up joint citizens of the United States and the United Kingdom, proud to celebrate and share the heritage of Scotland and the U.S.A.

I sold our far too large family home, took an extended trip to Scotland, and re-immersed myself in the home of the Single Malt. I visit every year and I am happy to share recommendations for trip planning, although sadly all of you will not be able to fit into my sister’s house should you choose to come with me!

Scottish Whisky, Southern Charm is a labor of love. Whisky distilleries in Scotland are working away expanding their whisky range. It seems like not a month passes where Glenmorangie, Highland Park or, many others are wheeling out a new bottle. Setting up my own company to celebrate the world of Scottish Single Malts is perfect for my life! I can help my adopted Atlanta Community appreciate Scottish single malts and keep my connection with the land of my birth.
